Most of gaskets come with instruction manuals, as do the equipment in which they are being installed. It is essential to follow installing instructions to ensure right installation and to avoid “voiding” the warranty of the equipment.
In general, the steps to install a gasket include:
Remove of surrounding components
Surface cleaning
Surface inspection
Alignment inspection
Inspection of the older one and new gasket
Gasket installation
Lubrication of the bolts
Tightening of the bolts
Testing
Remember that when select and installing a gasket, do not cut corners. Spending the time and funds to replace a series of gaskets correctly is far less expensive than having to shut down and replace just one that was chosen or installed incorrectly.
