Founded in 1938, the Washington, DC-based Valve Manufacturers Association of America represents nearly 100 North American manufacturers valves, actuators and controls. Approximately 80% members account of total industrial valve shipments out of Canadian and United States facilities. Approximately 35% of worldwide valve demand is supplied by the North American valve industry, and 30,000 men and women in supporting jobs are employed by VMA member. VMA is the only organization exclusively serving U.S. and Canadian manufacturers of industrial valves, actuators and controls. Products manufactured by members are used in numerous industries, including: pulp and paper chemical processing; petroleum refining; distribution and transmission; oil and gas exploration, power generation; nuclear power; water/waste water; commercial construction. VMA is also publisher of VALVE Magazine, written for buyers, specifiers, users and distributors of industrial valves, actuators and controls.
