In any given processing plant, you may find hundreds or even thousands of control valves. These valves are the ultimate control elements and are ultimately responsible for maintaining process variables (such as flow, level, pressure and temperature) within the desired operating range.
Unfortunately, control valves are often neglected. This happens in two ways:
· Engineers, managers, and others responsible for improving process efficiency often overlook the importance of control valves. They tend to focus on controlling the rest of the loop while ignoring the components of the center.
· The control valves are usually not properly maintained, which means they can not work at the desired level of performance. This may help to ignore their importance.
